It looks like Sony may be releasing an affordable 6-inch smartphone with 8-core innards that doesn’t empty your wallet in one fell swoop.
Chinese media has leaked the Xperia Tianchi along with its 8-core MediaTek MT6592 processor. The screen is expected to span 6-inches and output a 1280 x 720 resolution. Little else is known about the device but we can expect it to be launched with a smaller handset called the Xperia Z1s.
The Sony Xperia Z1S should be a China specific version of the Xperia Z1 Mini that’ll arrive with a 4.3-inch HD display, Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, a 2300 mAh battery and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. Of course this is all rumour still so we’re taking this with a pinch of salt.
Both the Xperia Tianchi and Xperia Z1S are expected to be officially announced at an event in Shanghai on 22 November. Both handsets are likely to launch in China first before making their ways to the rest of the world.
